Each book cover is an original ecoprint using leaves from Cordova with a mix of natural dyes. The process is eco-friendly and unrepeatable, making each print unique and the book one-of-a-kind. Coptic stitch journals lay flat when open for easy writing.
Ecoprints are created from natural pigments of botanicals (leaves, flowers, stems). The imprint is developed by creating tight "bundles" of layered material (fiber or paper) rolled with foliage specially prepared with natural mordants (alum, iron). The bundles are then simmered for a few hours in a natural dye bath. The combination of heat and mordants allows the botanicals to transfer the dyes contained in the plants to become "fixed" onto the material. The bundle is then unrolled revealing an impression when botanicals are removed from the material. Once dried, no enhancements are necessary.
