Net Loft Summer Camp 2025 | Nature Journaling Study Group

Come to summer camp with The Net Loft! 

Join us for a summertime self-guided course in nature journaling. The Net Loft Summer Camp will be using Roseann Hanson's books for a summer of nature study and recording of outdoor observations and experiences for first and second year campers, while third year campers will enjoy a summer of independent study and an opportunity to do a nature journaling presentation for the group.  The Fireweed Field Kits coordinate with the kits for required materials mentioned in the books. Be sure to order after you have ordered book.

Seedlings (Year 1): Book 1 "Nature Journaling for a Wild Life" 

Blossoms (Year 2): Book 2 “Master of Field Arts”

Seeds in the Wind (Year 3) Independent Study  & Opportunity for sharing (Follow link for more information)

The eight-week course of instruction and guidance, via the readings and assignments in the texts will include camp activities each week during the summer camp months. Participants are welcome to discuss their progress in our weekly Monday Net Loft Watercolor Journaling Sessions (12 noon or 7 pm  Alaska time) in person or online.

Dotty Widmann will be coordinating the camp sessions.

GROUP SHARING & PRESENTATIONS: August 17, 1-3 pm AKST

Those who have purchased books previously may select class registration only. Our Limited Edition Fireweed Camp Kits with suggested supplies Roseann's texts are available for those who need supplies. First year campers will especially appreciate the special selection of materials we have included in our kits, which they will find useful for continuing their nature journaling practice, following their camp days. Cordova’s Quyanaa Creations have created this summer’s special camp nature journaling field bag, featuring custom fireweed fabrics designed  by and bags sewn by Casey Landaluce.

Please specify in messages if you plan to attend in person or on zoom. Sessions will be recorded for those unable to meet during meeting times.

• NATURE JOURNALING FOR A WILD LIFE  OR  MASTER IN FIELD ARTS (Included with Registration) 
•  Watercolor Journal (The first year book includes blank pages at end of textbook, which I found worked perfectly well). Please contact if you are interested in a separate journal and would like suggestions
•  Pen (waterproof) such as MICRON (.15mm, .20mm, .25mm) or Staetler Pigment Liner (0.05mm, .1,mm .3mm
• Pencil (Mechanical Pencils included in kits below) Many people enjoy using Blackwing Pencils. 
• Watercolor Travel Paint Set
• Paintbrush - may be waterbrush (included in kits below)

The nature journaling kits listed in the link above are supplemental to our Basic Beginning Watercolor Journaling Kits and do not include watercolor paints, or fine point permanent pigment pen. The kit includes supplies suggested by Roseann, and is perfect for your summer nature journaling camp experience. Kits are limited in number and fireweed fabric color and design. The Drawstring Kit is the most complete and includes a fountain pen and carbon ink for sketching. PLEASE PUT COLOR PREFERENCE  (BLUES OR PINK/LAVENDER first come first serve) IN YOUR MESSAGE AT CHECKOUT. They each are unique color combinations. Knives and pens included  are coordinated with outside bag color and vary. I love the drawstring kit and think it will be perfect to use with Roseann's books or for  independent study journaling.
