This pen is water based and writes best on a matte finish paper versus one with a glossy or polished finish. If you add watercolor to sketches it blurs, but that can have a nice effect also.
Pairs nicely with a fine point permanent pen such as the Staetler black ink fine point marker. The blue black is reminscent of the fountain pen color I used to use back in high school. "
