The Net Loft presents a lovely afternoon of activities celebrating springtime.

This year’s annual afternoon retreat includes an introductory watercolor painting lesson followed by a painting session of garden themed images from illustrator Emily Lex’s new “Garden” paint book. An introduction to floral arranging and an opportunity to create your own floral bouquets will be provided by Cordova’s own Kicker Room Blooms, followed by a special guest and garden project, accompanied by an array of delightful treats & refreshments.

Enjoy an afternoon of crafting at the Net Loft as you create a framed wool painted shorebird. You will learn the basics of needle felting while illustrating in wool, a male Black Bellied Plover in breeding plumage, a migratory bird that travels to the Copper River Delta region each spring. 

Spring is emerging and we are preparing to celebrate the return of the shorebirds to the Copper River Delta and to the surrounding wetlands here in Cordova, Alaska. One of the ways we celebrate the great migration and importance of habitat preservation along the Pacific Flyway is with our Birds by Hand exhibit of handmade birds. We invite you to join the exhibit by sending a handmade bird to us here of any medium from wherever you are. We will tag your bird and include your bird story on our exhibit.

We would love to have you or group of friends with a friend flock be a part of this special exhibit that is unveiled at our shorebird festival and kept hanging in our local museum gallery for the month of May.

Birds need to be mailed to us by April 15.
